40 years of international experience

In 2010, after 30 years of international experience, DEF set in motion its future expansion over five continents by creating a Department of International Operations (DOI).

It was created by merging two existing DEF entities which were already well-established abroad:

– AFRIMO, covering Africa and the Middle East

– TTAI, for French overseas departments and territories, as well as any other international opportunities.

Nowadays, DEF’s direct presence in five continents is guaranteed by its subsidiaries, its Network and its partners (DEF Service Partners, or DSPs). DEF has seven subsidiaries located abroad, two of them under the authority of DOI: DEF Tunisia and DEF West Africa.

Continuous collaboration with subsidiaries and DSPs

One of DOI’s fundamental purposes is to develop a network of “DEF Service Partners” (DSPs) that will be capable of rallying people with different skill sets to handle the most complex and innovative fire safety projects.

Those local companies are accredited to perform sales, studies, activation and maintenance for fire safety systems. DOI offers those partners comprehensive training which is essential to their role as DEF Ambassadors in their respective market segments. DOI sustains close relationships with our DSPs and guarantees their teams’ proficiency through the DSP Label.

Prestigious projects have now been completed, testifying to the success of this development strategy.

Membership in an international network

DOI is part of the DEF Network, an international network of more than 50 companies, each with its own specific area of expertise in the professions inherent to fire safety (fire detection, automatic extinguishing, smoke extraction and compartmentation, emergency PA systems, emergency exits management, supervision, video protection, anti-intrusion and access control). Thanks to the DEF Network, DOI has access to this full array of expertise, allowing us to offer outstanding comprehensive, bespoke solutions that ensure the best possible responses to the multiple complex issues associated with fire safety.

Based in Massy (outside Paris), the DEF Network has eight production plants in France, including five in the Loiret department, two in and around Paris and one in the Midi-Pyrénées region, as well as one plant in Italy, one in Germany and another in China. Our presence in many European, African and Asian countries gives us the opportunity to work on a very wide variety of issues.
